A couple of years ago in college, I did YouTube. I was inspired by so many other YouTube influencers that I watched since my freshman year of college. I did YouTube for about a year and it was fun. Just about a year in I decided to quit doing YouTube. I quit because of mental health and personal reasons. It was something I had to do for my own sake. Then, as you know I became a blogger a couple of months later.
Doing YouTube is a lot more than just pulling out a camera and filming. After quitting doing YouTube, I did my own research and learned more about it. You have a trend that you do that interests people. Such as family vlogs, video games, comedy, music, reaction videos, fashion, etc. There are so many different types of content out there. Analytics is a key factor because you see the number of views and the comments to know if your audience likes it. Numbers don’t lie.
I also leaned how it’s hard to film. Meaning finding a day and time to film and a topic. It’s hard. Trends come and go fast these days. On top of that, editing. When I was doing YouTube, it took me roughly about 3 days to edit. You have to make it so many transition edits, background music copy rights, making thumbnails so that they aren’t click bait, etc. So much work.
All in all, it’s good work when you make it fun. But the question is, will I go back to YouTube? Maybe. It depends on how this brand goes and what happens to me in life. Some of it I would want to share on a video and some I would want to keep to myself. But I wouldn’t want to deal with haters/trolls who don’t like my videos coming to attack me doing something I love. I know that going back to YouTube would have great opportunities to come. But we will see if I’ll go back to being on camera.
