Viewers vs. Entertainers

The entertainment industry is quite an interesting field. It has people who work in TV, movies, music, sports, social media, etc. But it has more downfalls than ever. I never understood entertainment until I was on social media more and began watching YouTube. A lot of people don’t realize that due to the fact we live in a time full of technology, this is how entertainers make their money. We as the viewers are making entertainers money, but it depends on the number of viewers that are watching.

Out of all the different areas of entertainment, the most conflict of entertainment is sports, YouTube, TV and movies. That’s just in my opinion. Here are the reasons why.

Sports

Why do professionals athletes speak and bring politics into sports? Don’t most of them realize that there people who don’t care. We just want to watch the game. Plus, either way, the white man is what is making these athletes rich and the white man richer off of them. Besides, has any of them thought that just saying something or posting on social media is not going to magically make hate go away? I can answer that no. There will always be hate. I bet that there is a list of things and people that everyone hates. Ask a person what athlete or team they hate? See what I did there.

Now with what Naomi Osaka did was just stupid. Does she realize that she makes money by people watching her play? Plus, getting interviewed in entertainment is always a must whether you like it or not. From what I saw and hear from her statement, it sounds like she’s telling people “Don’t watch sports. We don’t want to be a distraction of some light of hope from your miserable life.” How else are you going to be making millions of dollars if people aren’t paying to watch you play? Sports is nothing but top-tier entertainment. Back in the 90s-2000s, there was none of this political stuff, actual rivalries, and athletes giving their all to win. Like Bulls dominating in the 90s, Michael Jordan peaking in his career, the Laker and Boston rival in the 2000s, Kobe Bryant peaking in his career, and much more.

Everyone loved it that way.

YouTube

I’ve been a YouTube watcher for a long time. If you want to know how long, I remember when Gangnam Style was the most viewed video on YouTube and how so many people talked about how it broke a record. You can do the math. Since my 2nd or 3rd year of college, the amount of toxicity on the platform is crazy. It’s only getting worse with every YouTube upload. There are many YouTubers that people say are not good. What people don’t realize that by just clicking a video and watching it, we are making these YouTubers money. That’s without them selling merch and brand deals. You can research how much money these YouTubers make without brand deals and selling merch. Two of the most channels I’ve seen people complain and talk about are The ACE Family and The LaBrant Family. In other words, family vlog channels.

I watch and subscribe to both channels. I’m someone who doesn’t care or want to be invested in famous people’s personal life of what actually goes on behind closed doors and when the cameras are off. I don’t care it’s none of my business. I have a life and they have their lives. People have gone beyond out of their way to get these two channels canceled over any and everything. It makes me upset because it’s has taken the fun and enjoyment of watching YouTube. Plus, are the “evidence” presented even true? Because people can find any picture online and can photoshop it pretty well and make it legit. The real question is this, why are you wasting time out of your life wanting to get rid of a channel that has millions of subscribers? If you hate the channel why are you still watching it and stalking the creators on social media? Don’t say you are watching because of how cute the kids are. That’s like staying in an abusive relationship and complaining about what they do to you, but you stay because of how much money they make or that they “love” you and think that the person is going to magically stop abusing you.

YouTube is nothing, but entertainment period. If you don’t like the channel, stop watching it. Click “Don’t Recommend this Channel” on the video from the channel. Do you know how many channels I had removed from my recommended? A lot.

TV Shows and Movies

For the past several years, there have always been complaints about any and everything in TV and movies. Most of it is always about the representation of race, gender, etc. When and if Hollywood hears the plea for it and makes a project giving the people what they wanted, the people aren’t satisfied with what is presented to them. What more do you expect? Do you think every person in the world is looking for a TV show or movie full of representation? Of course not. We all look at the plot of what is in the preview that determines if we are going to watch it or not. For me, I love a good comedy, rom-com, action, and action-comedy type of TV show and movie. Every person in this world is looking at a movie and TV show for representation. Do you think people were looking for that when they watched Avengers Endgame? No. This is entertainment. It’s an escape from the negativity in the world. No matter what there will be no satisfaction.

What I do with blogging and on Instagram is considered entertainment, but the way I do it is far different from everyone else. I stay true to my content and do not do anything stupid with it just to get viewers and followers. I’m smarter than that. Wanting to be a part of this industry is a really big risk, scary, and dangerous territory. There will be more trolls than fans who will talk about the content. The scary thing for me when I do blogging is what I talk about that is true and facts that people today hate to hear. As the saying goes “The truth shall set you free.” By telling the truth you don’t know what to actually believe is the truth. I keep the facts straight and real.
